St Helens stage Shankly tribute
The first of two centenary year stage tributes to Bill Shankly comes to St Helens Theatre Royal on the evening of Friday, May 17.
The Bill Shankly Story features Kop legends Ian Callaghan, Ian St John, Ron Yeats and Chris Lawler, who all tell their favourite anecdotes about the great man.
The curtain first went up on the acclaimed production in 2006 and has since played out to captivated audiences in four countries.
Now the show is bigger and better, with exclusive audio clips of Shankly speaking his words of wisdom.
This September marks the 100th anniversary of Shankly's birthday and the quartet of Kop heroes provide an enthralling insight into the manager who revolutionised Liverpool's fortunes after his appointment in December 1959.
Record appearance holder Callaghan said: "Every time I walk through the Anfield gates I think of Shanks and how he laid the foundations of the modern Liverpool."
Tickets are available from St Helens Theatre Royal box office in person or by calling 01744 756000 or online at www.sthelenstheatreroyal.com.
The second Shankly centenary show will be staged at the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight, Wirral, on Friday, October 18.
