The task of finishing above Everton remains, but the chance to impress the boss is another challenge that must be seized by all when Liverpool face Fulham today, according to midfielder Lucas Leiva.

Brendan Rodgers will be watching his side carefully when they take to the Craven Cottage turf this afternoon looking to inflict a sixth loss in seven games on Martin Jol's outfit.

Lucas knows there is still plenty to play for in the remaining two games of the current campaign, especially in terms of making an impression on the manager.

"The league position is difficult to change now, but the manager is watching every day in training sessions and games," Lucas told Liverpoolfc.com.

"These two games can be important for the manager to watch us and to have a reflection about the performance and maybe what he wants to keep doing for next season.

"When you play for a club like Liverpool, we will have a lot of support travelling to watch the game so we have to make sure we do the right thing."

If Liverpool score two goals in London today, it will see them record their highest away goals tally in Barclays Premier League history.

On the road this season, Rodgers' side have fired 35 goals - six of which came at St James' Park against Newcastle in their last away trip.

"The goals are always important because it means the chance to win games is higher and I think it means we have been good offensively," said Lucas.

"That's why we want to find the right balance between defence and attack because that is what makes you a strong team."
