'It was the proudest moment of my life'
Conor Coady reflected on making his Premier League debut for Liverpool at Fulham and described it as the 'proudest day' of his life.
After playing in the Europa League for the Reds earlier this season, the U21s captain came on as a late replacement for Philippe Coutinho during the 3-1 win at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
"That was the proudest moment of my life and I am absolutely made up," Coady told Liverpoolfc.com afterwards.
"It couldn't have come at a better time for me and to get on the pitch was a dream come true.
"The manager just shouted me over and told me I was going on and he could see from the smile on my face how happy I was.
"He told me to go out and enjoy it, keep hold of the ball for us and play my normal game.
"I can't wait to go and speak to my dad now as I know how proud he and my family will be."
The young Scouser was also quick to praise the advice he has received from Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher this season and express his admiration for manager Brendan Rodgers.
He added: "I've really enjoyed this season and I do feel I have progressed.
"Going up to Melwood to train every day with the first team has really helped my game and learning from the likes of Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher can only help you - they are absolutely brilliant with the young lads.
"You have to give the manager a lot of credit for giving so many of the young players a chance this season and it has been absolutely fantastic. He has been really good to all of the young lads."
Coady now turns his attention to Tuesday night's U21 play-off showdown with Manchester United at Old Trafford - a match you can watch live on LFC TV and LFC TV Online.
He said: "It's a massive game. We want to go there and get a win and get to the final. Bring it on - we can't wait for it!
"We did really well in the first half of the season and also have done well with a different squad in the second part, and we are desperate to beat Manchester United and try and make the final."
