Discussing Jamie Carragher's last ever Liverpool appearance, teammate Jose Enrique pictured a scenario: imagine if the centre-back adds his name to the scoresheet.

The No.23 has played 736 times for the Reds so far and registered five goals during that period, while Enrique has notched twice in Liverpool colours since arriving in the summer of 2011.

"I've scored two and the feeling is amazing - imagine scoring a goal in your last game before you retire. It would be amazing for him; hopefully he can score and help us win," the Spaniard told LFC TV.

"We want to do it for him and for the team. The three points are really important for us, even if we are not playing for a better place in the league.

"Anfield has always been really good to play at, it's an amazing atmosphere. Of course in his last game, it's going to be amazing for him.

"He has been really important because he talks a lot with the defenders and he tries to organise the defence. It's really helping; you have seen that when he has been in the team, he's helping the team a lot. It's good and hopefully we can keep another clean sheet.

"You have to win every game when you play for a team like Liverpool; this game has to be for looking forward to the future. Our mentality has to be to win all of the games."

The Reds welcome Queens Park Rangers to Anfield on Sunday knowing that they will finish seventh in the Barclays Premier League no matter what the result is - but Enrique insists three points are still vitally important.

The 27-year-old added: "We have great players so if you give 100 per cent we have to win this game.

"It's the last game of the season, we're playing at home and QPR are already relegated. We have to try to win this game like we always do. If we give 100 per cent, I think we're going to win the game.

"It's always important to win, even if we are not playing for anything in the league right now. We are playing for us and for the fans as well - you have to try to win every game. Playing at home is even better.

"Our team is already good - since Christmas we have been playing well. The two additions in January have helped the team quite a lot. Hopefully, with a few more additions next year, we can fight for things. That's why we came here, to fight for things."

Enrique has been a vocal advocate of the philosophy introduced by Brendan Rodgers throughout 2012-13 and is already looking ahead to next season and improving further on his game.

"The style of play is the biggest difference. It's not normal to see a team trying to play football in England - this type of football is even better in England because a lot of teams want to play long ball," said the full-back.

"But, in my opinion, the football we play is better. Since January we haven't won every game but in a lot of games we have deserved more.

"I started badly with the injuries and everything, but then I played quite well. I still have to improve a lot of things. I have played in different positions this year, which I think has helped me.

"As a left-back I am going forward a lot with this type of system and I really like to play that way. I can play as a winger sometimes as well if the team needs me, so it has been good but I think I have to improve next year."
