Ladies edge five goal thriller
Liverpool Ladies came from behind to beat Lincoln 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at the Halton Stadium on Wednesday night.
With kick-off delayed because of Lincoln's late arrival due to bad motorway traffic, the visitors started brightly and took the lead.
However, goal machine Natasha Dowie equalised as Matt Beard's side began to impose their authority on the contest.
On the stroke of half-time Louise Fors struck the bar direct from a free-kick, but two minutes into the second half, the Reds went 2-1 up when a Fara Williams cross was diverted into the net via a Lincoln player.
Fors then made it 3-1 on 57 minutes after linking with Nicole Rolser following a superb team move, and although Lincoln pulled a goal back 14 minutes from time, Liverpool held on to claim three more vital Super League points.
The ladies are next in action in a mouth-watering Merseyside derby against rivals Everton that will be held at the Arriva Stadium, Marine FC in Crosby at 7.30pm on Tuesday, June 4.
Completing a vital run of fixtures for Liverpool is a home meeting with Birmingham at the Halton Stadium on Saturday, June 8 at 7.15pm.
