'100,000? I want to get more!'
Liverpool forward Fabio Borini has joked that while all of his aims are actually based around football, he is targeting even more followers on Twitter.
The Italian joined many of his teammates on the social media website in January 2013 and quickly amassed thousands of followers - indeed more than 100,000 in total.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: "At the beginning, I wasn't really aware of Twitter and how it works.
"I asked two of my friends to make a Twitter account and manage it for me. After they taught me, I took everything on board.
"There are 100,000 people who follow and read what I write - it's exciting. My friend said that we need to celebrate, but I said: 'It's only 100,000, we need to get more!'
"It's obviously something funny but I don't have aims for that. My aims are on the pitch."
Expanding on how he chooses to spend his time away from the pitch, the 22-year-old revealed that he prefers staying in - out of respect for the club.
"From the beginning I was comfortable, from day one. That has really helped me," Borini added.
"Even if I had injuries, it was a little bit easier because of that and I didn't feel homesick.
"I probably went out only once or twice during the season because I'd rather go out where I'm living in Italy instead of the place where I play football - it's respect for the fans and the club.
"If I go out, I go out just for dinners or when I have the occasion to do it. I read a lot and watch movies; I'd rather relax at home."
