Liverpool averaged more shots on goal per game than any other top-flight team in Europe in 2012-13, statistics have revealed.

The Reds tried their luck on average 19.4 times in each Barclays Premier League game, putting them ahead of Real Madrid who managed 18.7 efforts.

Juventus (18.4), Tottenham (17.9) and Manchester City (17.4) complete the top five.

Liverpool were also among the teams to have hit the woodwork the most, with their tally of 16 level with Manchester United, Everton and Bayern Munich. Only Barcelona (25), Atletico Madrid (21) and Real Madrid (19) struck the frame of the goal more throughout the continent's top leagues.

Meanwhile, the Reds' total of 16 goals from outside the area was bettered only by Barcelona and Tottenham (20 each) as well as Fiorentina (18).
