Reds defender Andre Wisdom believes the experience of travelling with England to the European U21 Championship in Israel will serve him well for events of similar stature in the future.

The 20-year-old has featured for just five minutes as the Three Lions, skippered by club colleague Jordan Henderson, fell to consecutive defeats by Italy and Norway - and elimination.

In preparation for their final fixture of the tournament against the hosts, however, Wisdom insisted positives can be brought home on a personal and collective level.

"Losing the two games and going out is a massive disappointment," said Wisdom, who made 19 appearances for Liverpool during the 2012-13 campaign.

"But we are a strong squad and our spirits are high. The expectation when putting that England shirt on will remain.

"We are just looking forward to the next game against Israel and hopefully get a result and go home with a bit of pride.

"Speaking on behalf of myself and the rest of the players, we love coming away with England and gaining the experience of playing.

"It's always good to play for your country and we go out in every game to try and win. We want to make sure we go home with a victory and it'll be good for the squad if we can.

"To come away and see the other teams play, see what the quality is like within our age group and gain experience playing in a tournament that is potentially like what we'll have to deal with in the future is great for us.

"You have to make the most of these experiences as you might not get the chance again. Every game and every tournament you play in or go to you learn something and I'll definitely take some positives away from this.

"Hopefully we'll be able to keep progressing as players. I'm still lucky enough to be able to play next time around for the U21s, so it'll be good if I can be involved and maybe one day win another tournament."
