'Agger for vice-captain? I agree'
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has backed the opinion of Liverpoolfc.com users in choosing Reds defender Daniel Agger as his preference to become the club's new vice-captain.
Jamie Carragher's retirement at the climax of the 2012-13 season left the supporting role vacant and manager Brendan Rodgers has yet to reveal who will follow in his footsteps for the next campaign.
In an ongoing poll on this website, 63 per cent of supporters have selected Agger for the position, with Pepe Reina, Lucas Leiva and Luis Suarez the other popular choices.
Fowler agrees with fans who picked the 28-year-old, however.
"There are a few players that we could opt for," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"I know the website has recently done a vote and I think they have all voted for Daniel Agger. It probably makes sense, to be honest, so I'd probably opt for him. He's a great player.
"When I re-signed, he actually signed the day before me. I would say that would probably not be a bad choice."
