Suarez's honour at equalling record
Luis Suarez admits he was honoured to equal Uruguay's all-time goalscoring record with his stunning free-kick against Spain on Sunday night.
The Liverpool striker's late set piece wasn't enough to salvage a draw in the 2-1 Confederations Cup defeat in Recife.
However, it did take Suarez joint-level with Diego Forlan on 33 goals in the top scorer standings for Uruguay.
Afterwards, he told reporters: "On a personal level it is an honour and a compliment to have reached the same level as Diego in respect of what he has done for la Celeste.
"Having scored the same amount goals as Diego, on a personal level, is good but now what we are focused on is performing in the group and our results in this cup."
Suarez has taken just 65 games to reach the 33-goal mark, compared to 99 outings for Forlan.
Uruguay are next in action in Salvador on Thursday against Nigeria, with kick-off set for 11pm BST.
