Pics: Suarez double sets Uruguay record
Luis Suarez scored twice to become his country's all-time leading goalscorer as Uruguay beat Tahiti 8-0 in the Confederations Cup on Sunday night.
The Liverpool striker entered the action as a 69th minute substitute and promptly fired two late strikes to take his overall tally for La Celeste to 35 goals - one more than Diego Forlan.
Suarez's Anfield teammate Sebastian Coates was also in action for Uruguay in Recife as he played the entire 90 minutes.
The victory takes Uruguay into the semi-finals and sets up a meeting with competition hosts Brazil on Wednesday.
Elsewhere in Group B, Pepe Reina was an unused substitute for Spain as they confirmed their place in the second stage of the Confederations Cup as group winners with a 3-0 success over Nigeria in Fortaleza.
They'll now meet Italy in the last four.
Meanwhile, in the FIFA U20 World Cup, Conor Coady captained and scored for England in their group opener with Iraq.
The Reds starlet headed home in the 41st minute to give the Young Lions the lead before Luke Williams doubled their advantage.
However, Iraq fought back to clinch a 2-2 draw in Turkey in a game in which Jon Flanagan also started.
