There was disappointment for Liverpool's Conor Coady and Jon Flanagan as England were eliminated from the FIFA U20 World Cup after a 2-0 loss to Egypt on Saturday night.

Peter Taylor's side drew the first two games of the tournament, against Iraq and Chile, meaning they needed a result against Egypt in the final group game to progress.

However, a strike from Trezeget in the 79th minute of the game in Bursa, followed by an injury time goal from Ahmed Hassan, left England bottom of Group E - and eliminated them from the competition.

Reds full-back Flanagan was forced to settle for a place on the bench as skipper Coady played the full game, and almost broke the deadlock early in the first half, stinging the gloves of opposition goalkeeper Awad Mossad with a fierce strike.
