Hundreds of writers applied and over the past few weeks we've been sifting through countless blogs and articles to decide who deserved to be an official columnist for Liverpoolfc.com.

We've now selected four writers to be our Talking Reds - Simon Steers (The Tomkins Times), Kate Cohen (The Guardian, Leopold Method), Harry Hugo (The Bib Theorists) and Daniel Rhodes (The Tomkins Times).

They'll take it in turns to write a column on Tuesdays throughout 2013-14 - but the fan representation on the official website doesn't stop there.

The standard of writers was so high that we've also selected five to write columns on a more casual basis.

Their names are Adam Smith, Ben Feltham, Mark Jones, James Marsh and Neil Scott and they've written for a variety of fan sites and fanzines including Well Red, Kopsource and The Anfield Wrap.

You can read more about our four regular Talking Reds below - and make sure you log on to Liverpoolfc.com on Tuesday for our very first column.

Simon says: My obsession with Liverpool FC started when I was about eight years old; back in the days when we were dominating English and European football. It has been a mixed bag for us in the Premier League era, but I think we are now facing in the right direction. I write about Liverpool FC for The Tomkins Times and This is Anfield on a wide range of topics. I have a keen interest in the business and cultural aspects of the club as well as what is happening on the pitch.

Kate says: Living in Sydney, Australia, I've become accustomed to irregular sleeping patterns - anytime of the night (...or morning), I'll be up watching Liverpool. I'm a journalism student and a freelance writer, writing for Leopold Method, the Guardian...and now Liverpoolfc.com. I enjoy writing analytical pieces and am always up for a debate.

Harry says: In February 2013 I set up a fan site called The Bib Theorists. The premise: enhance the platform for young writers. The site's profile escalated quicker than we could have ever imagined. The weekly podcast, which I host, features regularly in the top 20 sports podcasts on iTunes and the website itself continues to grow. I'm now trying to replicate the success we've had with TBT and broaden it to all the clubs in the Premier League with the company Fresh Press. On a personal level I have written pieces for lfctour.com and The FA, amongst others, and I'm particularly interested in writing about the Academy.

Daniel says: I started supporting Liverpool because of my friends as a kid, and while I rarely see my school friends these days, not a day passes without daydreaming about the next Liverpool match, the next signing or even the latest injury concern. Luckily, after 20 years, that time wasting is now constructive and I even get paid, as deputy editor of The Tomkins Times, to look over other fans' thoughts and ideas about the club. A dream job for a daydreamer.
