Liverpool starlet Yalany Baio today urged supporters to back a final push and help Academy staff and players raise over £10,000 for Alder Hey in memory of Stephen Packer.

Stephen was a Liverpool U9s player, who tragically lost his brave battle with cancer in November 2012.

In May this year, representatives from the club's Kirkby complex, where the youngster was well-loved and much admired, joined his parents and granddad to complete a three-peak hike.

So far the total amount of money raised for Alder Hey stands at just over £9,000.

Baio, who was part of the dedicated team who completed the 25-mile challenge, is eager for fans to continue giving generously, so that the £10,000 target can be reached.

"It would mean a lot if we could reach the target. There's only £1,000 to go now and I really hope that after the next few weeks, that £10,000 can be there," Baio told Liverpoolfc.com.

"I enjoyed the walk, but it was a lot of hard work. We didn't stop and at times it was hard

"It showed the spirit and togetherness we have at the Academy. We supported each other. I think everyone was very determined to do the walk for young Stephen Packer. Everyone did it for him. We were all happy to do it.

"I just want to say thank you very much to everyone who has donated so far. It's a very kind thing for them to do. I know people have worked very hard to pay that money.

"It would be great if we could get more donations and we would all be grateful."
