Ladies' mag designer to ride for charity
The man who helps bring to life the pages of Liverpool Ladies' official programme is preparing to take on a gruelling 180-mile bike ride to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK.
Page designer Andrew Dawson will set off from Oxford on the morning of Sunday, August 4 and aim to arrive back home in Liverpool two days later.
He has been inspired to take on the demanding challenge by his grandmother, Dolly, who suffers from dementia.
Andrew explained: "It's 180 miles home, over two days, and it's going to hurt. So it would be fantastic if anyone would like to support me with a donation, no matter how small.
"My nana, Dolly, has been suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia for a couple of years now. Such conditions are, well, grim - for both the sufferers and their families and friends. To be honest, it's heartbreaking.
"The aim of this ride is to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK - helping them to continue their vital work, which will hopefully prevent others from suffering in the future."
Not only is Andrew taking on 180 miles over two days, but he is also doing his regular DJing slot at the O2 Academy Oxford on the Saturday night.
He explained: "Playing records in a nightclub until 3am the night before a massive ride isn't ideal preparation - but it does make the whole thing a bit more of a challenge!"
