Adam Morgan, Jordan Lussey and Craig Roddan were guests at South Wirral High School on Monday, to show their support for a unique day of teaching about the Hillsborough disaster.

The youngsters joined Margaret Aspinall and Sue Roberts, of the Hillsborough Family Support Group, and writer Jimmy McGovern, for the afternoon session.

Earlier in the day, Year 9 and 10 pupils had been taught about the events surrounding the tragedy of April 1989, which claimed the lives of 96 supporters.

"It was an honour to attend the event alongside such inspirational people like Margaret and Sue," Morgan told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It is my pleasure to show that, as a local lad, I fully support this cause and also that I was happy to represent the club."

Monday's day of learning was put in place by teachers Ryan Ellis and Graham Jones after a motion passed by the Wirral Borough Council called for Hillsborough to become part of the curriculum.

Graham reflected: "The day was a huge success. Our students were challenged and motivated throughout thanks to the outstanding lessons prepared by the teaching staff involved."

In the morning, pupils worked through four lessons, covering the following topics: the truth about Hillsborough, the role of the media, the fight for justice and Hillsborough's legacy.

They were then joined in the main hall by their guests - including the Academy trio, who watched a powerful dance performance before a Q&A session took place with Margaret, Sue and Jimmy on stage.

Afterwards a video produced by Year 10 music students during the day was aired and Headteacher Kathy McCormack delivered a special message to all who had attended.

The day finished on an uplifting note with the viewing of a short film highlighting how the fight for justice brought about the truth about Hillsborough in September 2012.
