Agger: I'm feeling the benefits
Daniel Agger admits he is feeling the benefits of the treatment he underwent on his back at the end of last season.
The centre-back missed the final two matches of 2012-13 after a decision was taken for him to undergo pro-active treatment designed to strengthen the stability of his back.
Agger told Liverpoolfc.com: "I had some injections in my back and it was a hard month after them, but it seems to be getting better now. I'm feeling the benefits, definitely."
The 28-year-old added: "I'm feeling fine. It [pre-season training] has been hard, as it is every single year, but it's been good.
"We've done a lot of running but with the ball and it disguises all of the running a little bit. It's done in a nice way.
"Of course we're not there yet , but we're getting there. You can see the improvement every single day in training."
Agger was speaking a day after Liverpool touched down in Australia for the first time ever ahead of Wednesday's game with Melbourne Victory.
As they did in Indonesia, the Reds received a rapturous reception from fans gathered at the airport to greet their heroes - but our No.5 wasn't surprised.
He said: "It's always amazing to travel with Liverpool Football Club. It shows how this big club is, not only in England but all around the world.
"I wouldn't say I'm surprised - I've been here for so many years now. I've travelled a lot and I've seen it [the support], but it's still amazing. It's unbelievable."
Agger has been eager to interact with fans as much as possible on the 2013 tour so far - and it's something he's more than happy to do.
"It's important for them," he explained. "They love it when you stop and sign an autograph or take a photo, so if it's important for them, then it's important for me."
