The first beneficiary of a brand new 'Liverpool Way Award', to mark the club's 10th year of coaching young players in Scandinavia, has attended the Kirkby Academy to enjoy her prize.

The award - an opportunity to attend a soccer school course at the Academy in Kirkby - was provided to one lucky player from each of the Reds' international soccer schools in Denmark, Norway and Sweden - 26 youngsters in total.

International Academy coaches were tasked with the difficult decision of selecting the prize-winners based on which players had best demonstrated 'The Liverpool Way' during their course.

Other criteria included: players who were keen to listen and improve their skills; youngsters with impressive teamwork and who encouraged others; players with dignity, humility and commitment.

The first of the 26 winners to experience their prize was Ada Haandlykken, who attended a soccer school course in Hamar, Norway on July 3 this year having supported the Reds since the age of four.

An aspiring striker, Ada had two days at the Academy to remember 'for the rest of her life' according to her parents, before returning to her local team Brumunddal to continue her development.

During the past decade, Liverpool's specialised programmes have coached more than 20,000 young players in Scandinavia, with all courses delivered to the highest standard by Academy staff.
