Liverpool Ladies take on Doncaster Belles at the Halton Stadium on Wednesday night with a warning from manager Matt Beard not to expect to reproduce a repeat of the 9-0 mauling they dished out two weeks ago.

The ladies took Doncaster to the sword away from home with an exhilarating performance, and with three games remaining they are fighting hard for the title.

Beard's charges currently lead the way at the top of the Women's Super League but the lead has been cut to two points and reigning champions Arsenal have a game in hand.

Bristol Academy also have a chance of winning the title and the key game sees them travel to Arsenal on Sunday. Beard will hoping the game ends in a draw as that would be a massive result in the title race for Liverpool, who have three matches left to play.

Confidence remains high in the ladies camp, but Beard has warned his team against complacency on Wednesday.

"We will have to be careful," Beard told Liverpoolfc.com. "I'm not saying our 9-0 win flattered us as we could have had a few more goals but for their goalkeeper.

"Another 9-0 won't happen again though, I can't see that. They lost to Arsenal by six goals and lost to us by nine so I think it will be a different kettle of fish on Wednesday night.

"There are three games left now, all of them at home, so hopefully that will be an avantage for us but there aren't really any easy games in the Super League any more.

"We have got to make sure we are switched on and be at our best. As a group we will work as hard as we can to get maximum points."

The run-in is tough for the Reds with a derby to come against Everton and a final game against fellow contenders Bristol Academy.

Beard said: "The Merseyside derbies are never easy. That will be a tough night, there is a lot of pride at stake and you watch any derby game anywhere in the world and there is a difference.

"We have our final game against Bristol which could come down to needing to win the game to win the title or to qualify for Europe, so that will be a really pressurised game.

"I've got every confidence in this group of players and as long as we stick to our ethics then hopefully we can finish in the top two spots."

With the international break now upon us Beard is hoping supporters will come down to the Halton Stadium and cheer the ladies on in their final push for the title.

He added: "The more people that come down to the Halton Stadium to support us the better.

"The one thing you are going to get is a committed team who plays good football, and the way things have gone goals are guaranteed.

"We have a lot riding on the games so my message to the supporters is come down and enjoy it."

Kick-off at the Halton Stadium is at 7.45pm BST with admission £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
