Jordan Henderson insists he's excited by the progress Liverpool have made in the transfer market this summer - and backed loan-signing Victor Moses to shine at Anfield.

The Reds confirmed Moses' season-long switch on Monday, hours after welcoming centre-backs Tiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho to the club.

Unlike the latter two, the forward has not trained at Melwood yet due to international commitments with Nigeria.

However, Henderson, who played with the 22-year-old at youth level for England, knows the winger has what it takes to fit perfectly into Brendan Rodgers' side.

"I've played with Victor before and he's a fantastic talent," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "He'll come in here and contribute to the team like the rest of the new signings.

"He'll be a brilliant addition to the squad and I'm really looking forward to seeing him.

"He's very talented. He's powerful, he's good with the ball, he can use both feet and he's good at cutting inside or going on down the outside.

"Victor is a quick player and he can get goals as well. I think he's perfect for our team. Hopefully he'll do really well here."

Wednesday presented Henderson his first opportunity to train with new centre-backs Ilori and Sakho at Melwood - and the midfielder admits he was encouraged by the early signs.

In fact, the 23-year-old has been impressed by the capture of all eight signings, and believes the Liverpool squad is now much stronger as a result.

He explained: "I think they are fantastic signings. I think we've brought some great quality into the team.

"It will boost us up again and so hopefully they will contribute well this season. Hopefully we'll have a really good season altogether.

"This is the first day's training where they have been training properly, so they've been fantastic. I'm sure the lads will make them feel very welcome and they;'ll settle in very quickly. They will be brilliant here."
