Fowler begins Seeing is Believing cycle
Reds legend Robbie Fowler and 40 cyclists set off on the Standard Chartered Liverpool to London bike ride from the Shankly Gates at Anfield on Monday morning.
The ride, which is raising money for the bank's global initiative, Seeing is Believing, will take place over three days and will finish at the Standard Chartered headquarters in London on Wednesday.
The first day's route will see cyclists cross the river Mersey on the ferry, then pass through Birkenhead, Chester Zoo and eventually finish in Kidderminster on Monday evening after a 100-mile cycle.
The cyclists are all Standard Chartered employees with mixed cycling abilities, who are hoping to raise $100,000 from the event, which will allow the bank to help eliminate avoidable blindness across the world.
The bike ride is one of many fundraising events undertaken by Standard Chartered, which has committed to raising $100 million by 2020 for the programme, with the bank matching all donations dollar for dollar until the target is met.
