Iago Aspas is so determined for Liverpool to claim three points and remain at the top of the Barclays Premier League table against Southampton today he'd gladly take another 1-0 win at Anfield.

The Spaniard played his part as Brendan Rodgers' side chalked-up three consecutive one-goal victories to kick-start their league campaign.

He was introduced in the 54th minute against Swansea as the Reds were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Monday night.

Now he has his sights set on Mauricio Pochettino's Southampton and the No.9 told Liverpoolfc.com: "There aren't any easy games in the Premier League.

"Let's hope that we can have a big win one of these days, but I'd personally take 1-0 in every game if it meant that we always grabbed the win.

"It's a game we have to win also because we are playing in front of our own supporters.

"We've already beaten good sides like Stoke and Manchester United and we can keep going on the same lines in order to stay up there and finish in the top four. We can't afford any slip ups."

Pochettino took up the reins at St Mary's in January 2012 after Nigel Adkins departed the club following three years at the helm.

The Argentinian went on to inflict defeat on Rodgers' side on the south coast in March this year; however, the Reds have not been beaten in a competitive game since.

"I never really crossed paths with Pochettino because the year I played in the First Division [for Celta Vigo] was the season that they [Espanyol] changed coaches fairly early on in the campaign," said Aspas.

"But I think his methods are the ones that are employed in the Spanish league and this year they are building something special [at Southampton] as they have brought in some very good players."
