LFC set for Mudder challenge
Intrepid members from the Liverpool L1 official club store are set to take part in arguably their toughest task yet to raise funds for the Liverpool FC Foundation's Respect 4 All programme on Saturday.
Neil Greig and the team will be participating in the Tough Mudder Challenge - which is arguably the toughest event on the planet.
Set up by the armed forces, the 10 mile run is centred around a Krypton Factor obstacle course with a difference.
The runners face a similar course to the famous television show, but they also have to face a series of challenges like running through mud, underground mud tunnels, fire, ice-water and 10,000 volts of electricity.
It is gruelling to say the least and the current record is only 78 per cent of entrants successfully complete each challenge.
Commenting on the task ahead, Greig said: "It is a half marathon with a difference and we will be taking on the challenge to raise funds for the Liverpool FC Foundation's Respect for All programme.
"The aim of the programme is to engage young people, with a variety of complex needs, into sporting opportunitise to encourage participation, self confidence and independence. The programme also provides a vital network for both the young people and their parents to socialise and forge new friendships with families sharing similar experiences.
"The Foundation coaches deliver these sessions every week in Liverpool and also take their skills overseas. The sessions are tailored to individual needs and include coaching for those with visual and hearing impairments as well as wheelchair users and impairment specific needs."
