Sterling called into senior England squad
Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling has today been called up to the senior England squad for the Three Lions' World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old has been drafted in by manager Roy Hodgson following an injury to Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley.
Club teammates Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge both played, and the latter converted a penalty, as England beat Montenegro 4-1 at Wembley last night.
Hodgson's side now require a victory over Poland in three days' time to ensure top spot in Group H and with it automatic qualification for next summer's World Cup in Brazil.
Sterling had been stationed with the England U21s squad and impressed as they thrashed San Marino 4-0 on Thursday.
The No.31 has made eight appearances for the Reds so far this season, notching one goal.
