Harry Wilson fired twice as Liverpool U18s produced a superb display to beat Blackburn Rovers 4-2 at the Kirkby Academy on Saturday morning.

The youngster, who became the youngest ever player to represent Wales in the friendly international with Belgium in midweek, gave another fine display as Neil Critchley got his first win as U18s boss.

Alex O'Hanlon and Daniel Trickett-Smith were also on the mark, while Jerome Sinclair made his first appearance of the season when he came off the bench for the final 25 minutes.

Wilson gave the Reds the lead before Blackburn equalised two minutes after the restart.

O'Hanlon, Trickett-Smith and Wilson then extended the lead and the returning Sinclair was also unlucky when he was denied by a fine save from the penalty spot before a consolation for the away side made the final score 4-2.

Reflecting on the display, Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "The lads' confidence has suffered with a few of the previous games but they thoroughly deserved the win and I'm delighted for them.

"We played some excellent football at times and it was a deserved win. The lads have worked so hard in training and were determined to put things right.

"It was great to have Jerome back from injury and hopefully he can push on now and Harry has had an unbelievable week and will be buzzing at the moment."
