Brendan Rodgers was among the esteemed guests and club legends for last night's official opening of the Liverpool FC story, the Reds' brand new interactive museum at Anfield.

The boss joined members of the title-winning Liverpool Ladies team and invited VIPs for a special tour of the all-new collection of memorabilia from the club's illustrious history.

State-of-the-art technology helps to bring more than 120 years of LFC history to life, allowing supporters to experience different eras with unique and previously unseen artefacts.

Rodgers himself features in the new exhibition and was in attendance on Wednesday to mark the official opening of the museum with the unveiling of a special plaque.

He said: "It's an honour to be involved in the opening of the new museum and to be featured within the manager's section.

"This club has an incredible history and to see it all housed in one place is brilliant. Fans from across the world can enjoy the real history of their club in a new and exciting interactive way."

By visiting the museum, visiting fans can take a close look at the Reds' five European Cups and reminisce on the star names to have worn the shirt by walking through the hall of fame.

Nine different LFC images are available at a photo booth for a memento of the museum, while young supporters can hear fascinating facts from club mascot Mighty Red and take a virtual penalty at the European Cup final.

As an accompaniment to the visual experience, every visitor is provided with a multimedia headset which offers a personal commentary by former captain and assistant manager, Phil Thompson.

At the launch, he commented: "When I was asked to do the narration I was privileged. I stood on the Kop as a kid and at 15 years of age I joined Liverpool under Bill Shankly.

"I look at the photo of me holding the European Cup - to lift the biggest and best trophy in world football as captain of my hometown team was such a special moment.

"This is the story of the life of our football club and I'm proud to have been a part of it."

Stephen Done, curator of the museum, added: "The new LFC museum gives a unique insight into the club's history, ranging from its very beginning to the modern day era.

"The state-of-the-art interactive displays show off the LFC story in the best possible way and the reaction from visitors so far has been fantastic."
