Glen: I'm glad they're on my team
Glen Johnson watches the attacking exploits of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez with gratitude that the Liverpool duo are on his team rather than against him.
The Englishman and the Uruguayan have struck 14 Barclays Premier League goals between them already this season, wreaking havoc on opposition defences across the country.
A trip to the Emirates Stadium is next on the agenda and, while keen to praise the contributions of the whole Reds squad, Johnson is glad he won't be in the shoes of the Arsenal defenders this evening.
"Even without them we don't fear anybody. We have got some great players in the team throughout, but obviously they've both been on fire and playing really well," the No.2 told Liverpoolfc.com.
"You would much rather have them both in your team than playing against them - that's for sure.
"I think the way they are starting to play together, both chipping in with goals and assists, you can see they are willing to help each other out.
"Sometimes you can get two top strikers who don't want to pass to the other one, but we certainly don't have that here."
The Reds face table-toppers Arsenal on Saturday and, while many pundits see the game as a stiff examination of their top-four credentials, Johnson insists the approach will be the same.
He said: "We see it as just another game. They have been playing well, so have we, so I'm sure it will be a good game - but it's just another one of many games.
"We've just got to go out there and do what we've been doing and see what happens.
"It's what we enter every game for - to get the three points. So Saturday won't be any different. The way we have started, we want to keep the run going and make it last as long as we can.
"I'm sure it will be attack versus defence from both teams. There's so many attacking players in both teams and both teams are definitely going to have moments."
Arsene Wenger's side have started the season in explosive fashion and, after their opening-day defeat by Aston Villa, have stormed to the top of the table.
Johnson admits he's not surprised by how well the Gunners have shaped up so far this term.
He added: "I think in this league there are a lot of good teams with a lot of good players. There are strong squads with good benches and people who can come on and make a difference to teams.
"So I'm not surprised with their start - but we've started very well as well and it should be a good game."
