Mignolet promises instant response
Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has pledged that the Reds will produce an immediate response to their frustrating defeat at the home of rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
Mignolet and co suffered a 2-0 reverse at the hands of the Gunners, thereby missing out on the opportunity to once again climb to the summit of the Barclays Premier League.
Although the Belgian could do nothing to prevent strikes by Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates Stadium, the No.22 took a lead in promising supporters a better result next weekend.
He told Liverpoolfc.com: "Everybody wanted to do well today; we were motivated and confident going into the game because it was a good opportunity for us to go top of the table.
"Unfortunately, we came across a good Arsenal side - they put us under pressure and scored an early goal. Afterwards, you're chasing the game a bit.
"At half-time we changed things and managed to create some chances, but we couldn't score a goal. Then Aaron Ramsey killed the game off really.
"Arsenal are doing really well at the moment and they are a good side. That doesn't mean we're not disappointed, but the most important thing is that we can't drop our heads after this performance.
"We must look forward and make sure we put things right next week with the game against Fulham.
"It's always important to respond after a defeat. I'm sure everybody will be prepared to work hard from Monday onwards for the preparation against Fulham."
With a quarter of the Premier League campaign now concluded, the Reds can nevertheless reflect on a record which includes just two defeats in 2013-14 to date.
"You can never be satisfied with anything; we've had a decent start, but we have to make sure we build on that and look forward," Mignolet added.
"We'll take the positives and negatives out of this game, and make sure we respond against Fulham next week."
