Opta statistics from Liverpool's Barclays Premier League clash with Arsenal on Saturday evening show that the Reds attempted to utilise the flanks as their best route to goal.

Philippe Coutinho, who only featured for the second half, and Luis Suarez delivered more crosses - 5 - than any other players on the pitch; Jon Flanagan and Steven Gerrard tried three apiece too.

The Reds' No.7 was the most successful with his crossing, finding a teammate with 60 per cent of his centres and providing two scoring opportunities in the process.

In terms of his own efforts at goal, the Uruguayan registered three shots at Wojciech Szczesny during the 90 minutes at the Emirates Stadium.

Each of that trio was from inside the penalty box and ultimately off target, although Suarez did hit the post with one improvised strike from the outside of his boot.
