Spanish midfielder Luis Alberto is determined to build on what he has learned during his short time in England so far by earning more first-team minutes with the Reds.

The 21-year-old was the first of eight players to complete a move to Anfield last summer, having been pinpointed as a potential star of the future by manager Brendan Rodgers.

An accurate passer, energetic when pressing and comfortable in possession, the No.6 has since made six appearances for Liverpool - and he desires more of the same above anything else.

Alberto told Liverpoolfc.com: "I have been working for a few months and I have learned quite a lot. I am going to wait for my moment - I hope it will be soon.

"I have discovered that it is faster football, more physical, and you have to be in better physical condition.

"I have improved in various aspects, my physique is better and I am heavier now; these details contribute to better preparation.

"There are many teammates that are working well. I have to wait for the manager to put confidence in me and to repay his confidence on the pitch.

"I would like to play more - I am waiting for my chances. I am pleased with my performance, although the truth is I need to play more and hope to do it."

The highlight of the former Sevilla man's spell with Liverpool so far was undoubtedly the hat-trick he netted at the Kop end when the U21s thrashed Sunderland 5-2 back in September.

It's a trick he dreams of repeating for the first team: "Scoring goals is rewarding. I hope to be able to do it for the first team. I am quite relaxed and hope that everything will go well."

In Liverpool's last home fixture, a handsome 4-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Barclays Premier League, Alberto was introduced as a late second-half substitute.

With Rodgers' charges now preparing to welcome Fulham to their home ground on Saturday, the Spaniard warned against complacency with a timely comparison.

He said: "We cannot underestimate any Premier League team - Fulham have good players and could score at any time from a set-piece.

"It is a pity it is not like this in Spain, but there are teams who fight for fourth or fifth place; I experienced it with Sevilla for two years.

"Here, the league is much nicer and the fans must be enjoying it quite a lot. Let's see if we can finish in a top place."
