Liverpool midfielders Lucas Leiva and Luis Alberto took time out from Merseyside derby preparations to attend a Respect4All football session and participate in a kickabout on Thursday.

The Reds duo met with a group of youngsters enjoying their weekly football session at the Respect4All centre, which is part of the Liverpool FC Foundation, the club's official charity.

Based at St Margaret's CE School in Aigburth, the programme delivers free, impairment-specific, multi-sport classes to more than 180 children and adults across Liverpool and Wirral every week.

The classes, which run four nights a week during school term time, cater for eight to 16 year olds and adults with severe learning difficulties, visual and physical impairment (ambulant) and wheelchair users.

Lucas, a trustee of the Liverpool FC Foundation, said: "It has been a real pleasure to visit the Respect4All programme again.

"The participants are all so enthusiastic and dedicated to their training, which is fantastic. I am proud to be an active member of the club's charity and support its incredible programmes."

The Respect4All programme opened its second centre at Woodchurch High School in Wirral last year to widen its provision in the community after the success of its Liverpool centre.

Ryan Moignard, Liverpool FC Foundation Respect4All project leader, added: "Respect4All is a fantastic programme which is well attended and supported by the local community.

"We offer tailored sessions with specialist coaches to provide local young people and adults with fun, engaging classes which really bring out their personalities and help them to develop new skills."
