Simon: How we move on from derby draw
Simon Mignolet has urged his Liverpool teammates to build on Saturday's 3-3 draw against Everton by learning from their shortcomings and returning to winning ways against Hull next week.
The Belgian turned in one of his most accomplished performances since joining the club in the summer as he denied Everton time and again with a stunning array of saves.
However, he was powerless to prevent Romelu Lukaku from taking the Blues to within touching distance of a famous victory, only for Daniel Sturridge to clinch a draw in the 89th minute.
Mignolet told Liverpoolfc.com: "As a goalkeeper, you always try to do the things you are asked of in games.
"Sometimes you are busy; sometimes you don't have anything to do. That's being a goalkeeper - you're there to make saves.
"On the other hand, you're always disappointed when you concede three goals. But we'll make sure next week that we do otherwise.
"I have to be honest, I think once you go behind at 3-2 with only five minutes to play, you are going to be worried that you'll lose the game.
"But luckily, Daniel was there to score the equaliser. The result made sure that we continued in the way that we have started our season.
"We need to make sure that we build on that. If we can get the three points next week, then this will turn out to be a good point."
The Goodison Park encounter proved to be one of the most enthralling derbies of recent times, with both sides creating a multitude of goalscoring opportunities and the match playing out at breakneck speed.
At times, Mignolet was the nemesis of the home crowd as he thwarted attack after attack, while at the other end, Luis Suarez seemed to send alarm bells ringing each time he picked up possession.
"It's always nice to feature in your first derby and it was a special derby as well today," said the 'keeper. "I think it was an end-to-end game and there were many chances for both teams.
"When you are playing, all the things happening around the pitch just go past you - you're focusing on your job on the pitch and that's trying to save as many things as you can.
"But I'll look back on this and it's been a good experience to play in my first derby."
What a game! #derbyday thanks for the support #YNWA
