Only three months have passed since the day that Mamadou Sakho officially became a Liverpool player, but the France international is already feeling right at home as a Red.

The powerful centre-back bolstered the options available to Brendan Rodgers when he completed a switch from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day in September.

Having been immediately introduced to first-team duty by the manager for a debut at Swansea City, the 23-year-old has since made a total of eight appearances in Liverpool colours.

His integration into life at Anfield has followed more than a decade with French heavyweights PSG, but the No.17 has no doubts whatsoever that he made an inspired decision to move.

"I wouldn't have changed my choice for anything in the world," Sakho explained to The Guardian.

"My decision to come to Liverpool has been fantastic for me. I haven't been here very long at all but I've settled in well.

"It was always going to be hard because I've only ever known one club and been a one-club person before coming here, so that makes things a bit more difficult.

"But I've been prepared to go and ask advice from everyone - my teammates, coaches and the manager. I've asked them a lot about the game here. My family has settled in, it's going well."

That process was certainly aided by Sakho's recent success on the international stage; the Frenchman scored a crucial brace against Ukraine as Les Bleus secured World Cup qualification last week.

He added: "It's funny, I had this feeling I was going to score. I was absolutely certain. It wasn't a case of me being conceited, I was just so determined for it to happen.

"Everyone has been congratulating me since. Here in Liverpool they have all been patting me on the back, although Brad Jones insisted I had only been credited with the first goal in England.

"I told him it was definitely two goals back in France, and now that is official!"
