Suarez out to make history
Luis Suarez is eyeing a piece of history on Wednesday night as he bids for a hat-trick of hat-tricks against Norwich City. Here are all the facts and figures ahead of the game from club statto Ged Rea.
Suarez has fired two hat-tricks against the Canaries, both at Carrow Road. No other Liverpool player has ever scored three league hat-tricks against the same club.
Last season at Anfield, Liverpool won 5-0 with goals from Jordan Henderson, Suarez, Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard and a Ryan Bennett own goal.
The 5-0 win last season is the club's second biggest win over Norwich. In February 1979 they won 6-0 on their way to clinching the league title.
The Reds are two goals short of recording 100 in league games against Norwich.
Paul Walsh, in November 1986, scored Liverpool's only Anfield hat-trick against the Canaries in a 6-2 win.
Ian Rush is Liverpool's all-time top-scorer against Norwich with nine goals in 21 appearances. Next on the list are Kenny Dalglish, David Fairclough and Suarez who all have seven. Suarez has scored his in just four appearances.
Glen Johnson made his professional debut against Norwich in October 2002 while on loan at Millwall from West Ham. His side lost 3-1 at Carrow Road.
The first goal Jordan Henderson scored in his career came against Norwich while he was on loan at Coventry in a 2-1 win in February 2009.
The Reds have scored 13 goals in their last three league meetings with Norwich.
