Allen: We showed our squad strength
The most pleasing aspect of Liverpool's breathtaking 5-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday was the evidence provided of the depth within the squad, according to midfielder Joe Allen.
Brendan Rodgers' team were without skipper Steven Gerrard, Jose Enrique and the lethal Daniel Sturridge for the White Hart Lane encounter, while vice-captain Daniel Agger remained on the bench.
Nevertheless, Luis Suarez claimed a typically stylish brace, which was backed up by strikes from Jordan Henderson, Jon Flanagan and Raheem Sterling in a rain-swept North London.
As the Reds thrived in the absence of their colleagues - with Allen a relentless, pressing presence in the centre of the park - the result put the visitors back in the Barclays Premier League top two.
The Welshman told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: "We were hopeful of that performance.
"We were confident coming here off the back of two great results and with the likes of Luis playing so well and the team as a whole. We were confident we could get the win.
"We knew that missing Steven was going to be a big loss for us, but that probably showed the strength that we've got in our squad - especially in midfield.
"Everyone came to the fore today and probably answered the doubts people had as well as you could. It's a great feeling.
"It's always a great feeling to win at home, but our home record has been great. On the road, it has been a little inconsistent, so this is a special moment for us. Hopefully, away from home, this is a turning point for us.
"We will obviously celebrate this great victory but we've got to get our heads down now for a tough period and make sure we can maximise the points tally we rack up."
In response to their disappointing defeat by Hull City on the opening day of December, Liverpool have since blasted 14 goals in three games to claim the maximum amount of points available.
"That comes from the momentum you build by playing well, winning games and scoring," explained the No.24.
"You feel like you can go anywhere and score. To come to White Hart Lane, with the confidence we've got at the moment, it certainly helped us."
