Toure: Brendan can be a great
Kolo Toure believes Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has the quality to become 'one of the best' managers in the world.
The defender has drawn a comparison between the Northern Irishman and his former boss, Arsene Wenger, with whom the centre-back won a Barclays Premier League title and two FA Cups.
Speaking to #LFCWORLD, Liverpool's No.4 insisted comparisons are favourable between Rodgers and Wenger.
"He's a great manager and for me, Mr Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are similar," said Toure.
"The way we train is the same as it was at Arsenal; it's only about the ball whether it's passing or movement. What I'm finding here is a great manager - I think he's going to be one of the best in the world."
Despite not featuring since the 3-1 defeat by Hull City, Toure got off to a great start in his Anfield career by appearing in nine of the opening 10 Premier League fixtures.
During his short time on Merseyside, Liverpool have propelled themselves to the top of the table and Toure believes Liverpool have the squad depth to sustain a genuine title push.
He said: "When we started, no-one was expecting us to be where we are right now. But we've shown that we just need to carry on game by game, give 100 per cent every game and we'll see at the end of the season because we have decent players.
"We have Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Philippe Coutinho, a strong defence even though we haven't had a lot of clean sheets lately but it will come and I think everybody is working really hard."
Since settling into life in L4, the former Arsenal and Manchester City man has been impressed by the work-rate and commitment shown by his fellow colleagues.
He explained: "What I find here and what I think is amazing is the attitude.
"There's honest people here, every player and even the young players are working hard and everybody deserves to play every week. For me, that's amazing and that's why I believe we can win the Premier League and be champions.
"When we started the season, we all started from the same line and we just need to believe and give 100 per cent every week."
Such an attitude will be required on Boxing Day when Toure and his teammates make the short journey to the Etihad Stadium.
Toure signed for City in 2009 and went on to make 82 appearances for the club, forming part of their title-winning squad of 2011-12 alongside his younger brother, Yaya.
The elder Toure was 'honoured' to play alongside his sibling and added: "It was fantastic and for me when he came, I knew that he was going to be one of the key players in this team and as the older brother I was trying to do everything I could to put him on the top level.
"To play with your brother in the same team is great and when he was losing a ball I was chasing the ball as quick as I could to get the ball back to avoid him making a mistake or anything like that.
"Our family was very close and there was nine living in the same house and playing football and fighting each other all the time. When you fight with your brother that doesn't mean you don't love each other, mostly when you fight each other that means you have more love.
"I'm someone who loves my family and to have Yaya doing what he's doing is fantastic, and I hope that one day he can be the best player in the world."
