'They tell us about the Brazil threat'
A two-way conversation takes place between a pair of samba stars and the Reds' coaching staff when Liverpool prepare themselves for the challenge of containing Chelsea's Brazilian contingent.
Philippe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva could cross swords in opposition with compatriots David Luiz, Oscar and Willian - although midfielder Ramires is suspended - when the Reds travel to Stamford Bridge today.
In the halls of Melwood during the build-up to the game, Lucas has passed on his knowledge of the trio from his homeland, but he admits the club's analysis department has already completed the scouting mission.
"We know the players, we know how they like to play. But they have been around in the Premier League for many years," the No.21 explained to Liverpoolfc.com.
"So our experts here - the video analysis and the manager - know all the strengths and weaknesses of the players, not only the Brazilians but the whole team.
"Of course we can give them some advice, but I think they always give us more than we give to them. Then we have to be ready.
"I always give my best, it doesn't matter who I'm playing against. But, of course, I will be playing against some of the friends that I have made in my career.
"It will be nice to meet them; we have played against each other many times and it will be another great opportunity and another big game, Liverpool against Chelsea."
The Reds journey to the capital sitting one point behind Jose Mourinho's outfit but aware that victory at the Blues' home - where Liverpool are unbeaten in their last four visits - would lift the travellers back above their rivals.
After participating in a performance filled with attacking spirit and enthusiasm in suffering a narrow defeat at Manchester City on Thursday, Lucas has called for a positive mentality in London.
"We have a chance - if we play the way we did, we'll definitely have a chance to win the game," the midfielder continued.
"But every game is different and we just have to approach it with the same mentality, trying to play our football and not go there just to try to defend.
"We'll try to go and win the game and play the way we're good at. We'll see what's going to happen.
"After the defeat against Manchester City, it becomes even more important to win the game because we want to be closer to the top.
"Losing would not be good for us, having two defeats in a row. We will go there with a positive mentality and try to win; we will only achieve what we want if we win these kinds of games as well."
