Suarez hails 'SAS' reunion
Luis Suarez hailed his reunion with Daniel Sturridge after the duo combined to devastating effect, helping Liverpool earn a 5-3 victory at Stoke City on Sunday afternoon.
Sturridge's first appearance since November 23 due to an ankle injury was instrumental, as he came off the bench to set Suarez up for his 22nd goal of the season.
The England international then got in on the act by applying a neat finish at the death to wrap up maximum points for the Reds.
"Of course it is important [to have Sturridge back] because he is a great player and he helps the team," said Suarez. "It's a long time that we played without him, but now he is back we are so happy."
Ryan Shawcross's own-goal set Liverpool on their way at the Britannia before the Uruguayan doubled the advantage midway through the first half.
Efforts from ex-Reds Peter Crouch and Charlie Adam ensured the teams went in on level terms at the break, but Steven Gerrard's penalty restored the visitors' lead.
Sturridge's assist for Suarez, and his own clinical finish then rendered Jonathan Walters' effort a mere consolation.
"The performance of the team is more important," said the No.7. "It was very hard today - we know against Stoke every game is tough, and here at home they are strong.
"We knew if we won it would be very important for our confidence for the future."
Suarez's brace took his goal tally for the season so far to 22 in just 16 league games, but he insists he's paying no attention to personal statistics.
"The most important thing is that Liverpool finish in the top four. This is the most important thing for me," he concluded.
