Henderson: Not what we've come to expect
Jordan Henderson admitted Liverpool's performance against Aston Villa during Saturday's 2-2 draw was not of the standard Kopites have come to expect at Anfield this season.
The midfielder could not hide his disappointment after the match, but vowed to take positives from the clash, which saw the Reds battle back from 2-0 down.
Henderson and his teammates were second best in the first half as Villa stunned the home crowd to race to a two-goal lead within 35 minutes.
Daniel Sturridge halved the deficit seconds before the interval, latching onto a clever flick from Henderson to finish calmly at the Anfield Road end.
Steven Gerrard's penalty pulled Liverpool level in the game; however, Brendan Rodgers' side were unable to find a winner and the points were shared.
Henderson conceded afterwards that the display was below par at a venue where the Reds have won 11 out of 13 games in all competitions this season.
"We're disappointed with the result because we want to win every game and that's our expectation here - to win all the time," he told Liverpoolfc.com.
"So we're obviously disappointed. But at the same time, to be 2-0 down, we showed the character to come back and not get beat, so we have to take that positive out of it.
"Hopefully it will be a very important point come the end of the season. We can't be too downhearted. I think we showed our fight and character to get back into the game.
"We just need to work on the things we need to improve on and keep going and keep trying to win games."
