Fabio Borini maintained his impressive form on loan with Sunderland on Saturday by offering a decisive contribution in the Tyne-Wear derby with Newcastle United for the second time this season.

With 19 minutes played at St James' Park, the Italian forward stepped up to convert from the penalty spot, breaking the deadlock and paving the way for a 3-0 Black Cats victory away from home.

Borini had struck a sensational winner when the two North East rivals clashed earlier in the campaign, rifling home from the edge of the area to secure a 2-1 triumph in October.

The 22-year-old has now found the back of the net five times for Sunderland, where he is currently on loan from Liverpool for the duration of 2013-14.

He joined the Reds as Brendan Rodgers' first signing in the summer of 2012 and made 20 appearances, scoring twice, despite a maiden year beset by unfortunate injuries.
