Ladies capture England U23 star
Liverpool Ladies have signed England U23 international midfielder Lucy Staniforth from Bristol Academy.
The 21-year-old is currently an England U23 international having previously represented England at U17, U19 and U20 levels.
Lucy, an attacking midfielder with a keen eye for goal, began her career at Sunderland Ladies where she started in the FA Cup final at the age of 16 when they were narrowly beaten by Arsenal Ladies, before moving to Lincoln Ladies.
Having lifted the Women's Super league trophy for the first time in the club's history in 2013, the move bolsters Matt Beard's Liverpool squad in the build up to the upcoming season.
Speaking of her move to Liverpool, Lucy said: "I am absolutely delighted to join Liverpool Ladies and can't wait to get started.
"I hope that I am able to improve a squad that is already full of top class internationals as we strive to retain our WSL trophy and impress in our debut Champions League season.
"I would also like to thank everyone at Bristol Academy for their support during my time at the club as I thoroughly enjoyed my time there."
Liverpool Ladies manager, Matt Beard added: "This is yet another exciting signing for Liverpool Ladies as we prepare for the new season. She adds great quality and will add further depth to our squad."
