U18s lose at Stoke
An experimental Liverpool U18s line-up lost 4-1 at Stoke City on Saturday.
With many of the regular team rested after just returning from an U19 competition in Mexico, Neil Critchley took the opportunity to field some of the U16 team to give them experience of playing at a higher level.
Stoke away was always going to be a tough prospect but there were some positives to take from the performance.
Matty Rimmer netted a consolation goal for the young Reds.
Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com: "We had five U16 players in our team and another two came off the bench so it was a great learning curve for them.
"We went 1-0 down when their right-back scored a brilliant goal but we then gifted them a second from a back pass.
"The lads kept going and they will learn a lot from this outing."
