The primary author of the independent report that finally revealed the truth about the Hillsborough disaster will this week give a free talk at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) to which members of the public are welcome.

In 'Hillsborough: Resisting Injustice, Recovering Truth', professor of criminology Phil Scraton reflects on the long-term campaign for truth, details the Hillsborough Independent Panel's extensive findings and considers the implications for challenging institutional injustice and holding state institutions to account.

The release of the Hillsborough Independent Panel's report in September 2012 brought an unreserved government apology, new inquests, a criminal investigation into all agencies involved and an unprecedented IPCC investigation into police conduct.

The public lecture takes place this Thursday, February 13 from 6-8pm at the Foster Building at UCLAN, Preston. For more information contact Helen Codd at hlcodd@uclan.ac.uk.
