Jerome Sinclair's composed first-half finish was the difference as Liverpool U18s earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves at the Sir Jack Heywood training ground on Saturday afternoon.

Neil Critchley's side raced into a one-goal lead when the forward punished a defensive error from the home side to nip around the 'keeper and roll the ball home for the opener.

Liverpool led at the interval; however, after the restart, the visitors were forced to withstand considerable pressure in order to preserve their lead.

"Jerome seized upon a mistake from their defender to put us ahead," explained U18s boss Critchley. "After the interval, we had to battle against a lot of pressure and a lot of crosses, set-plays as well.

"But our goalkeeper didn't really have too many saves to make. We defended brilliantly to keep them at bay, and we held on well to get the win in the end."
