A group of Galway-based Liverpool and Manchester United supporters will swap shirts with one another to coincide with tomorrow's eagerly anticipated match at Old Trafford, in order to raise funds for an important cause.

The event has been organised in aid of 24-year-old Shane Grogan - a young man who suffered a severe brain injury after he was assaulted while walking home in Tuam, County Galway on August 5, 2012.

The injury means Shane needs 24-hour medical care, and his parents are seeking to build a special unit at their house to fulfil his medical needs.

To help support them, an event which has been called 'I swapped for Shane', will aim to raise much-needed funds, with fans planning to congregate at the Brogue Bar in Tuam ahead of the match, which kicks off at 1.30pm GMT.

Today, Liverpool and Manchester United joined forces behind the event, posting messages simultaneously via their various social media accounts. For information on how to donate to the 'I swapped for Shane' campaign, click here.
