Daniel Agger believes Barclays Premier League defences are running scared of Luis Suarez, whose hat-trick at Cardiff City last Saturday saw the Uruguayan take his season's tally to 28 goals.

The Liverpool No.7 has been in imperious form throughout this campaign and has been showered with praise from all quarters for his relentless displays.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, among others, has suggested that the 27-year-old is the stand-out candidate to clear up at the end-of-season Player of the Year awards.

And Danish defender Agger has joined the chorus of appreciation for Suarez, arguing that there isn't a team in the league that isn't frightened of him.

"Luis has got everything," Agger told the Liverpool Echo. "What he does on the pitch is unbelievable and every team in the league is afraid of him and rightly so."

Agger is in no doubt that his colleague deserves to be crowned Footballer of the Year, but suggests it is not all down to the goals he has scored, but his all-round efforts across the pitch.

"Without a doubt, he has to be the Footballer of the Year. It is not only his goals and assists, but also his work-rate for the team," added the centre-back.
