'Play for Brazil? Yes, Steven could do so'
Brazil technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira has explained why Steven Gerrard could easily grace the national team of the five-time World Cup winners.
The Liverpool captain is set to lead England in this summer's finals, and Parreira, who guided his country to World Cup glory in 1994, has spoken of his admiration for the Scouser.
Parreira said: "I like Gerrard very much; he is, for me, a wonderful player. He would play in the Brazilian team, yes.
"The Brazilian players love him and respect him."
The 71-year-old also shared his belief that England could spring a surprise at the tournament in South America, despite Roy Hodgson's side having to face the likes of Italy and Luis Suarez's Uruguay.
He added: "The group is very tough - nobody can say right now who is going to survive in this group.
"If they [England] survive they can go very far in the competition. We played them twice, we lost one and we drew the second one.
"The team is very good, I rate them as one of the favourites together with Spain, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Germany."
