Steven Gerrard has underlined the sense of togetherness that exists within the current Liverpool squad ahead of another crunch clash in the Barclays Premier League against West Ham United this afternoon.

The notion of working for one another has long been at the essence of the Liverpool way - and Gerrard insists the present crop of players are committed to sticking together.

Brendan Rodgers' Reds have now racked up eight consecutive league wins, thrashing the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the process.

Today, at Upton Park, they have the chance to regain top spot in the table with a victory in the capital, and Gerrard says the players will stop at nothing to bring three points back to Merseyside.

"We need to keep doing what we're doing," he told Liverpoolfc.com. "Nothing changes. We don't worry about Manchester City or Chelsea or Crystal Palace or Newcastle - we worry about West Ham.

"We need to approach it in exactly the same manner we have approached the last eight games. We've had an unbelievable mentality and a winning attitude.

"We always know that if we work hard for each other and if we do the ugly bits that players don't like doing all the time, we know the nice stuff will come out.

"That's exactly what's been happening. We've been pressing really high, playing with a high tempo, playing at a pace which is difficult for opposition teams to cope with.

"But it all starts with sticking together and working hard for each other."
