'Too close to call, but Reds are capable'
Former Liverpool and Manchester City forward Paul Walsh says this weekend's Barclays Premier League his two old clubs at Anfield is too close to call, but is in no doubt as to who he wants to come out on top.
Speaking exclusively to LFCTV GO, Walsh explained where he believes the game will be decided and how the atmosphere inside the ground could influence the players.
"From a neutral point-of-view it's a fantastic game to look forward to," said Walsh. "But I've already said that I want Liverpool to win the title.
"I can't call the game, it's too close, but I can say that I want Liverpool to win.
"I think it will be an open game with two teams really going for it, but Liverpool are more than capable of winning. They were unfortunate not to get three points at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the season, but I'm hoping they do enough on Sunday.
"Manchester City have to decide whether to play with caution and attempt to hit Liverpool on the break or go for the jugular from the start, which will have a big say on the way the game flows.
"It's dangerous because Liverpool have a strike partnership to die for in Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez, and are attacking with so much variation and imagination - they can unlock any defence in the Premier League."
As a player, both for and against Liverpool, Walsh knows all too well the affect the Kop can have on both teams at Anfield, and is anticipating a big atmosphere come kick off on Sunday.
He said: "I think there's a real sense of anticipation around Anfield at the moment. The fans believe the team can win the title and that this weekend could be a massive moment in that challenge.
"So the atmosphere inside the ground is going to be great, maybe one Anfield hasn't seen for a long time, and that will be a big factor in the game.
"The experienced players will know how to deal with that going on around them, but it will be interesting to see how the younger players cope, because if the likes of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho and Jon Flanagan play with the freedom and confidence we've seen this season it could make the difference."
