Paddy Power odds - Liverpool v Man City

Liverpool were unlucky not to come away from the Etihad Stadium on Boxing Day with at least a point following a 2-1 defeat in Manchester.

This Sunday the Reds host their rivals in the biggest game of the weekend and Brendan Rodgers could not have his team in better shape going into the clash.

Unbeaten in 13 Premier League games, last Sunday's 2-1 win over West Ham United at Upton Park was an incredible ninth consecutive win. They're 7/5 to make it 10 consecutive victories at Anfield. 

A 1-0 win at 10/1 would certainly suffice, but given the goalscoring records of these two sides there's likely to be over 2.5 goals at 4/7. In fact, over 3.5 goals at 11/8 is proving a popular bet. Liverpool to reverse the scoreline of the 2-1 loss at the Etihad pays out at 8/1.

City are unbeaten in their last five games; however, prior to that they suffered four losses in the previous seven games. Away from home they've been beaten four times in the league this season, including defeats to Aston Villa, Cardiff City and Sunderland. 

Although they've avoided defeat at Anfield in their last three visits, leaving with a point each time, City have not won there since 2003 and that's their only win on the red half of Merseyside in the last 25 efforts.

With these stats in mind, the 7/5 on a home win looks a great price. However, five of the last six meetings have ended in a draw, which can be backed at 12/5.

It should also be noted that three of the last four games, home and away, between these sides have finished 2-2, which can be backed at 10/1.

On to the goalscorers and, as has been the case for much of the season with Liverpool, you're spoilt for choice.

Luis Suarez is the favourite to score first at 4/1 and the Uruguayan netted in this fixture last season. As did the Premier League's most profitable goalscorer, Martin Skrtel, who is in to 25/1 to score first.

Daniel Sturridge scored in his only previous appearance for Liverpool against his former club and is 11/2 to score first and 7/5 to score anytime.

Then there's Steven Gerrard. The captain has three goals in his last five games against Manchester City, two of which were penalties. Gerrard is 8/1 to score first, 23/10 to score anytime and any Liverpool player to score a penalty can be backed at 13/2.

The atmosphere is guaranteed to be extra special for this game and the home fans will no doubt play their part in pushing Liverpool to the win.
